Cody Stickels (he/they) is a filmmaker who makes heartfelt, character-driven stories that push past stereotypes and find comfort, humor, and joy in the face of hardship.
He is a 2025-2026 Chicken & Egg (Egg)celerator Lab cohort member with the project A TEXAS SON and was also selected for the 2024 Film Independent Documentary Story Lab. Cody’s last film, A NIGHT AT SWITCH N’ PLAY, won the audience award for Best Documentary at New York City’s NewFest Film Festival and screened internationally at festivals such as BFI Flare, Inside Out, and Woodstock.
Originally from Texas, he graduated from New York University with a BFA in Film & TV and an MA in Documentary Practice from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, earning a Dean’s Award for Outstanding Interdisciplinary Work. Most recently, he moved cross country to Oxford, Mississippi to attend the MFA documentary program at Ole Miss with his wife and two pets. After living in small apartments in NYC and Los Angeles, the backyard was an instant hit with his dog.
